Live Feed Into Our Bodies: Device by UCSB Team Provides Insight on How Fast the Body Metabolizes Drugs


Imagine a body having its own live feed that doctors could see and use to design truly personalized treatments. A new innovation opens the door to exactly that possibility. Scott Ferguson, a Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical Engineering, and Professors Kevin Plaxco (Biochemistry) and Tom Soh (Mechanical Engineering) have developed a palm-top device that provides real-time insight into how fast a living body metabolizes drugs.
