Feminist Studies Professor Receives Two Book Prizes


Feminist Studies Professor Mireille Miller-Young's  recent book "A Taste for Brown Sugar: Black Women in Pornography" (Duke University Press, 2015) has received two book prizes.

The book was recognized as a recipient of the Sara A. Whaley book prize on behalf of the National Women's Studies Association for groundbreaking scholarship in women's studies that makes significant multicultural feminist contributions to women of color/transnational scholarship. It also received the John Hope Franklin Prize for the best-published book in American Studies on behalf of the American Studies Association. 150 books were considered for this prestigious prize.
