UCSB Physics Group Played Role in Nobel Prize-Winning Higgs Discovery


Physics Professor Joseph Incandela said "applause and shouts" erupted at the CERN lab in Europe, when it was announced that theorists Peter Higgs and François Englert won the Nobel Prize in Physics. With UCSB's High Energy Physics Group, Incandela played a large role in discovering the Higgs boson, the long-sought particle that proves the winning pair's theory.
