Book by UCSB Professor Studies Noise Music in Japan


With sounds that could easily be characterized as unpleasant, painfully loud, and just plain painful, Noise music isn't for the average pop fan. But the experimental, extreme genre is thriving in Japan, and is the subject of a new book, "Japanoise: Music at the Edge of Circulation," by Assistant Professor of Music David Novak.
