David Pellow Named Dehlsen Chair in Environmental Studies


Professor David Pellow, a specialist in environmental justice, race and ethnic studies, social change and social movements, has been named UCSB's Dehlsen Endowed Chair in Enviromental Studies. He defines environmental justice as a combination of ecological sustainability and human or civil rights, and is primarily known for his research on the ways social inequality contributes to enviromental problems. He is the second person to hold the position, following in the footsteps of the late William Freudenburg.
